( 1930 - 1998 )
Geboorteplaats Buffalo (USA)

American artist Allan D’Arcangelo studied history at the Buffalo University (1948-1953). After his graduation he moved to New York to study at the city’s university and the New School of Social Research. After his time in the army he moved to Mexico to study painting at Mexico City College (1957-1959).

It is difficult to characterize D’Arcangelo’s work, but is is reminicent of minimalism and pop-art. A recurring theme in his oeuvre is the American Experience, of which his Highway paintings are a well-known example.
