Isezaki Jun Bizen vase (niet bekend)

On view at the Bergarde Stable

Japanese ceramist and potter Isezaki Jun works according to the ancient Bizen tradition. Characteristic of Bizen ceramics, named after the Bizen region, are the hardness, red colour and the natural gloss of the glaze.

Jun’s objects are subtle and strong in its simplicity and serenity. Among others, the British Museum (London) and the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston) exhibited his work.
