What if? #5 / Angelique van der Valk
In her work, Barendrecht artist Angelique van der Valk makes current food issues around our food visible. In these two pictures from the series What if? questions Van der Valk the consequences of crop protection or breeding, focus on content substances and patent on nutrition. Broad beans, both fresh and dried, have been used as a carrier.
In the supermarket we find nicely packaged vegetables and fruit. With the harvest, not everything is equally beautiful and perfect. Which part of the harvest is lost because the product is not good enough for the store? What if the focus is on accelerating growth processes and the visible exterior of vegetables or fruit and less on taste or ripening time?
